When I first started working in WordPress, I thought web design was all about visuals — colors, fonts, and images. But after spending time building my site, I learned that design is really about experience. It’s about how easily someone can find what they’re looking for, how fast the site loads, and how the content flows.
Planning Before Creating
One of the biggest lessons I learned was how important it is to plan before you create. Setting up categories, mapping out pages, and understanding your site’s purpose saves so much time in the long run. The WordPress block editor was confusing at first, but once I understood how reusable patterns, templates, and style settings worked, everything clicked.
Accessibility and SEO Matter
I also learned how much accessibility and SEO affect a site’s success. Things like using headings correctly (H1, H2, H3), adding ALT text to images, and writing descriptive meta tags aren’t just extra steps — they make your site more visible and inclusive.
Creativity Meets Structure
This class helped me appreciate how web design blends creativity with structure. You get to express your personality, but you also have to think logically about user navigation and readability. I went from just wanting a “cool-looking” site to wanting one that feels right — easy to use, visually strong, and uniquely mine.
